Parent Perspectives on the Davis Life Concepts Approach

To be advised

LIVE in conversation with Dr Jacinta Ryan and Anna Berghamre

Dr Jacinta Ryan, together with a team of Autistic and Neurodivergent co-researchers, has undertaken the world’s first independent research into the effectiveness of the Davis Life Concepts Approach.

She set out to examine whether this emerging program could improve the lives and wellbeing of Autistic and Neurodivergent children, teenagers and adults attending Developing Me Psychology for mental health care.

The results were better than expected…

Please join us to hear from parents and caregivers whose children have received the Davis Life Concepts Approach program as part of Dr Ryan’s research project.

Thinking Differently – a novel developmental intervention for Autism and Neurodiversity

Wednesday 15 March 2023
7 pm AEST

The APS hosts this webinar with the APS College of Clinical Psychologists.

This webinar may shift how you understand and work with your Autistic and Neurodivergent clients.

You are invited to listen with a curious and open mind. You are also encouraged to bring your clinical rigour and any experience you have with clients who have Autistic traits, especially those seeking help for complex psychological and mental health suffering.

In 2016, we ‘shifted gears’ and began working with some of our Autistic and Neurodivergent clients to test a novel, emerging developmental intervention for Neurodiversity created by American Autistic engineer Ron Davis.

What happened next was far better than what we could have imagined.

Our clients’ intractable developmental, functional, psychological, social and mental health difficulties began to shift - sometimes dramatically.

Some of our child, teen and adult ‘real-world’ outcomes are clinically remarkable.

In partnership with five Neurodivergent Co-Researchers, we have now delivered a Davis program to more than 40 participants, aged 8 to mid 70s, in the world’s first independent study into the potential benefits of this method.

We are excited to be able to share what we did and what we have learned (including that our clients needed us to be willing to try a fundamentally different approach).

The parent of a 16-year old girl who completed a trial of the Davis Autism Approach in 2018. She will share some of her perspectives about the Davis method and the changes she observed in her daughter, who was diagnosed with Autism when she was four.
